Seattle strikes again
Recently saw a program on TV about a new music genre which is flourishing in Seattle - the origin of Grunge. The music itself is very lyrical and with a strong harmonic focus on the vocals. Some of the artists name the genre "Beard pop", although an official name has yet to be announced. Anyways, here's a list of cool bands:
- Fleet Foxes
- Tiny Vipers
- Grand Archives
- Band of Horses
Bought Fleet Foxes' latest CD yesterday - great
Ordered some more CDs online as well.
In Rainbows, oh yeah.
For those of you who haven't paid attention to the news lately: Radiohead made a new album. It's called In Rainbows. It's brilliant. Sends shivers down my spine. Go get it now! NOW! Oh, and you can pay what you want for it. Download it now!
Also, check out Radiohead 01 and 10. It works!
Piano and code
I recently bought myself a brand new Yamaha CP33 Stage Piano! Finally I'm able to play piano again, after over half a year without it. And I must tell you, it feels great!
I was afraid that I had forgotten everything, but it's not so bad. It didn't take long till I was more or less back on track
I also purchased an Edirol FA-66 FireWire sound card to go with it, which I'm able to hook up to my powerbook. I have yet to discover how I set up software instruments in Logic Express, but I'll have to look into that...
In other news I've applied for Google Summer of Code for GNOME! Can't wait to get the response! I just hope my application was good enough... But if it was, I'll have the whole summer to hack happily on GNOME!
